Come, let’s experience the soul of Gujarat in Saurashtra!
We begin our journey in the ancient city of Dwarka, one of the four sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites in Hinduism. Here, the Dwarkadhish Temple stands majestically, dedicated to Lord Krishna. With its towering spires and serene atmosphere, the temple invites you to experience the divine energy and explore its intricate carvings. To seek a deeper connection with mythology, we go to Beyt Dwarka, an island believed to be the residence of Lord Krishna. We also visit Nageshwar Jyotirlingam which is believed to protect devotees from all kinds of dangers and negative energies. The temple also features a massive Shiva statue! Dwarka indeed is a journey into the heart of ancient lore.
Did you know that Dwarka is one of the seven most ancient cities (Sapta Puri) in India? It is believed to have been established over 5,000 years ago
After Dwarka, we continue along the coast to Porbandar, a city with deep historical significance as the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. Explore Kirti Mandir, the house where Gandhi was born, and delve into the life and legacy of the Father of the Nation.
Nature lovers will find paradise in Gir National Park, the only place in the world where you can see Asiatic lions in their natural habitat. A safari through Gir is an adventure filled with the sights and sounds of the wild, including leopards, deer, and a wide variety of bird species. It’s an experience that brings you face to face with the untamed beauty of Saurashtra in Gujarat.
From the wilderness of Gir, we head to Junagadh, a city rich in history and spirituality. We will get amazed by the surreal Indo-Islamic architecture of Mahabat Maqbara and we will get our much-needed dose of adrenaline rush during our ropeway journey to Girnar Hill.
Did you know that Girnar Hill is the highest peak in Gujarat, with an elevation of about 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) above sea level? It offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape
A short drive away, Bhavnagar awaits with its blend of culture and heritage. We visit Nishkalank Mahadev Temple, a hidden gem submerged in the sea and only accessible during low tide, offering a mystical experience. Feel the serene atmosphere as you walk across the ocean bed to this unique temple. Then, we head to the Takhteshwar Temple, perched atop a hill, for panoramic city views and spiritual solace, making Bhavnagar a perfect blend of adventure and devotion.
As we progress towards the north of Gujarat, we step back in time at Lothal, one of the most important sites of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization. Lothal’s well-preserved ruins, including its ancient dockyard and pottery, provide a glimpse into a civilization that thrived over 4,000 years ago.
We end our trip in Ahmedabad, the cultural heart of Gujarat. We visit the Sabarmati Ashram, where Mahatma Gandhi lived and led the freedom movement. How can we return the Adalaj Stepwell, a stunning example of Indo-Islamic architecture that provides a cool, serene retreat. Ahmedabad’s vibrant markets, delicious street food, and rich heritage make it a perfect conclusion to our Saurashtra adventure.
