About the Tour

Our winter trip to Tirthan Valley is specially designed to experience its white beauty as it’s one of the most picturesque locations in Himachal. There are extremely high chances of snowfall during this period. But do remember, it’s an adventure trip and one needs to step out of their comfort zone.

Did you know that one of the greatest delights of winter special Tirthan Valley trip is the chance of witnessing snowfall on this trip?

Jibhi is a quaint Himalayan village situated on the banks of Tirthan river in Himachal Pradesh. It’s a peaceful pastoral hamlet which has recently started to gain popularity in the travel bucket-list of those who want to seek peace in mountains with a twist of adventure. The freshness in the air of Himalayas, the gushing sound of river, hidden waterfalls in the forests, dense pine and cedar forests, traditional stone and wooden houses and the cold breeze purifying our souls are a true bliss in Tirthan Valley. Don’t we all want to run from the maddening crowd and noise of metros to the places where we can experience this true bliss?

Let’s escape to Tirthan Valley for a short break. Let’s be close to nature, relax, unwind, connect with ourselves, challenge our limits a bit and let our inner child be alive again in beautiful mountains, in a fun and diverse group.

The icing on the cake is that this winter special trip to Tirthan Valley has been planned slightly differently from our regular short trips to Tirthan Valley. It’s a long trip where you will get an ample amount of time to soak in the beauty of treks, mountains, and valleys. Your rooms are cozy, and evening bonfires give you an opportunity to have some fun sessions with fellow group-mates.

Trip Highlights

1. Snowfall experience

As mentioned in the beginning, Tirthan Valley winter special trip is specially curated to offer a relaxing experience in winter at an offbeat place where you also have high chances of witnessing snowfall. We understand well that witnessing first snowfall is a dream to many people.

2. Jibhi Waterfall

The soul soothing Jibhi Waterfall is tucked inside a dense forest. The fall makes a lovely clear water on the ground pool where one can relax by taking a swim or simply dipping their feet. It’s a great place to relax, unwind and listen to the music made by waterfall and birds. There are also cute wooden bridges constructed near waterfall which gives place a perfect fairy-tale look.

3. Jalori Pass

Located at an altitude of 10, 800 feet above sea level, Jalori pass is the connecting link between Shimla and Kullu district. During winter, the experiences heavy snowfall and could also be closed unpredictably. Though, it’s the first Indian pass that opens up during the arrival of summer. It’s also the closest mountain pass to Delhi and sits on the bucket list of every adventure seeker.

4. Mata Buddhi Nagin Temple

Mata Buddhi Nagin (old snake goddess) is believed to be the mother of all snake deities. The temple is located next to Serolsar lake. In fact, Legend says that Mata Buddhi Nagin lived in a golden palace at the bottom of the lake.

5. Trek to Serolsar Lake

The round-shaped pristine Serolsar Lake, surrounded by dense Alpine forest, is the hidden gem of Himachal Pradesh. It’s one of the high-altitude lakes of the region, located at an elevation of 10, 490 feet. There is a myth that one cannot even find a single leaf floating on the surface of the lake as birds take them out to keep the water clear. It is also believed that lake water has medicinal properties. The trek to Serolsar lake is an easy one and it starts from Jalori Pass.

6. Shringa Rishi Temple

The temple of Shringa Rishi is considered very sacred by locals as they believe that the deity protects them. Shringi Rishi is one among the eighteen chief deities of Kullu. As per the epic of Ramayana, Lord Rama and his brothers were born after a huge yajna was performed by Shringa Rishi.

7. Trek to Great Tower of Kothi

Great Tower of Kothi (or Chehni Kothi), almost 45 meters tall, is the tallest standing structures in the western Himalayas. It was built in the 17th century and have survived even the powerful earthquakes like the 1905 Kangra one. Though, it lost its uppermost two storeys in that earthquake. Witnessing Great Tower of Kothi is also a great visual treat because its architecture has used indigenious Pahadi methods for construction. The trek to Chehni Kothi is an easy one and it starts from Shringa Rishi Temple.

8. Picturesque Views

The greatest benefit of visiting a remote Himalayan village such as Jibhi is that you get treated with picturesque views. Every view is unique in itself, and it soothes the eyes and soul of the visitors. Not to mention that you can click countless breathtaking photos during your Tirthan Valley trip.

9. Witnessing Traditional Architecture

While the modern construction methods have taken over the traditional pahadi style of construction, in Tirthan Valley you would still get to see a lot of centuries-old traditional houses and temples. The traditional style of construction uses locally available materials such as wood, mud, and stones. These are also designed keeping weather conditions in mind such as rain and cold. The traditional homes in Tirthan Valley are warm, cozy, and beautiful.

10. Bahu Lake

Located at a distance of few kilometers from Jibhi, we have serene Bahu lake. Bahu Lake is located in Bahu Village, and the road from Jibhi to Bahu offers a great view of the Great Himalayan National Park.

11. Balo Temple

Balo Temple is a beautiful wooden temple that is believed to be more than 800 years old. It can be reached from Bahu Lake by doing an hour-long scenic hike. Please note that it’s going to be an optional hike on the trip. If you don’t wish to visit Balo Temple, you can simply relax and unwind near Bahu Lake.

Your Itinerary

Day 1: Commencement of Tirthan Valley - Winter Special trip | Start from Delhi

Meet the entire group and group leader for introduction and orientation in Delhi. We will board a comfortable Volvo Bus for our overnight journey to Aut. From Aut, we’ll board pre-booked local vehicles for our journey until our destination, Jibhi.
Pick up Point: ISBT Kashmere Gate at 7:00 PM

(If you are an outstation participant, we recommend landing in Delhi latest by 4 PM)

Please note that if you are based out of Chandigarh (or any other city which comes on route) you can get in touch with us for the pick-up/drop on the way.

Day 2: Arrival in Jibhi and Relax

Note: 1. The feasibility of the Serolsar Lake trek totally depends on the amount of snow on trekking trails. If it happens to be a thick blanket of snow, which has a high possibility during winter trips, then we will go up to the 360-degree viewpoint at Jalori Pass to get mesmerized by snow, play, roll, or probably make a snowman. It will be an adventurous yet leisurely spent day with the white beauty of snow. 🙂

Please note that the New Year party will be within our group with cake cutting, light dance, music, and lots of laughter. Please don’t expect DJ or very loud music as it’s a protected area.

Day 6: Arrival in Delhi and Goodbye

We are supposed to reach Delhi by 8:00 AM as per the schedule, but still, keep some buffer time in hand if you have an onward journey on the same day. Because of uncertain traffic and road conditions, we can’t predict the exact time. Better to check with us while booking your return journey tickets.
We will drop off the participants as per the respective pick-up points, and exchange warm hugs, and goodbyes until we meet again.

If you are an outstation participant, we recommend booking a flight after 2 PM.

Please note that Jibhi being a remote village, and an offbeat tourist destination is prone to long power cuts, especially in the touristy season. Hence, carry your power banks and flashlights religiously as per the packing list. However, in the last few months, the place has not witnessed long power cuts but better to be prepared.
If you are traveling from such as Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, or any other city, then do get in touch with us so that we can guide you on how to reach from airport to the pick-up point. We might also be able to connect you with your fellow travelers from these cities.

Please note that some lunches would be basic but fresh & delicious as they would be arranged around trekking routes.
Please prepare yourself mentally that it’s a very active trip and for a few people, a long road journey could be tiring but Volvo makes it very comfortable. Although, everything is worth the effort because Tirthan Valley is no less than heaven!
Please note that Vodafone & Idea has poor/no reception in Jibhi. Airtel & Jio works quite well.
