It’s a long trip where you will get an ample amount of time to soak in the beauty of treks, mountains, and valleys. Your rooms are cozy, and evening bonfires give you an opportunity to have some fun sessions with fellow group-mates.
As mentioned in the beginning, Tirthan Valley winter special trip is specially curated to offer a relaxing experience in winter at an offbeat place where you also have high chances of witnessing snowfall. We understand well that witnessing first snowfall is a dream to many people.
The soul soothing Jibhi Waterfall is tucked inside a dense forest. The fall makes a lovely clear water on the ground pool where one can relax by taking a swim or simply dipping their feet. It’s a great place to relax, unwind and listen to the music made by waterfall and birds. There are also cute wooden bridges constructed near waterfall which gives place a perfect fairy-tale look.
Located at an altitude of 10, 800 feet above sea level, Jalori pass is the connecting link between Shimla and Kullu district. During winter, the experiences heavy snowfall and could also be closed unpredictably. Though, it’s the first Indian pass that opens up during the arrival of summer. It’s also the closest mountain pass to Delhi and sits on the bucket list of every adventure seeker.
Mata Buddhi Nagin (old snake goddess) is believed to be the mother of all snake deities. The temple is located next to Serolsar lake. In fact, Legend says that Mata Buddhi Nagin lived in a golden palace at the bottom of the lake.
The round-shaped pristine Serolsar Lake, surrounded by dense Alpine forest, is the hidden gem of Himachal Pradesh. It’s one of the high-altitude lakes of the region, located at an elevation of 10, 490 feet. There is a myth that one cannot even find a single leaf floating on the surface of the lake as birds take them out to keep the water clear. It is also believed that lake water has medicinal properties. The trek to Serolsar lake is an easy one and it starts from Jalori Pass.
The temple of Shringa Rishi is considered very sacred by locals as they believe that the deity protects them. Shringi Rishi is one among the eighteen chief deities of Kullu. As per the epic of Ramayana, Lord Rama and his brothers were born after a huge yajna was performed by Shringa Rishi.
Great Tower of Kothi (or Chehni Kothi), almost 45 meters tall, is the tallest standing structures in the western Himalayas. It was built in the 17th century and have survived even the powerful earthquakes like the 1905 Kangra one. Though, it lost its uppermost two storeys in that earthquake. Witnessing Great Tower of Kothi is also a great visual treat because its architecture has used indigenious Pahadi methods for construction. The trek to Chehni Kothi is an easy one and it starts from Shringa Rishi Temple.
The greatest benefit of visiting a remote Himalayan village such as Jibhi is that you get treated with picturesque views. Every view is unique in itself, and it soothes the eyes and soul of the visitors. Not to mention that you can click countless breathtaking photos during your Tirthan Valley trip.
While the modern construction methods have taken over the traditional pahadi style of construction, in Tirthan Valley you would still get to see a lot of centuries-old traditional houses and temples. The traditional style of construction uses locally available materials such as wood, mud, and stones. These are also designed keeping weather conditions in mind such as rain and cold. The traditional homes in Tirthan Valley are warm, cozy, and beautiful.
Located at a distance of few kilometers from Jibhi, we have serene Bahu lake. Bahu Lake is located in Bahu Village, and the road from Jibhi to Bahu offers a great view of the Great Himalayan National Park.
Balo Temple is a beautiful wooden temple that is believed to be more than 800 years old. It can be reached from Bahu Lake by doing an hour-long scenic hike. Please note that it’s going to be an optional hike on the trip. If you don’t wish to visit Balo Temple, you can simply relax and unwind near Bahu Lake.
